In the next five years, the future of networks will be shaped in particular by three trends - artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things and innovation in wireless technologies. These will lead to the dominance of intent-based networks, networks that are capable of automatically transforming a naturally expressed business request into a set of policies and actions that ensure that this requirement is met without impacting other network services

The main priority for IT leaders and network strategists is to maximize the business value of IT and adapt more to business needs. At the same time, they believe that investment in artificial intelligence is essential to achieving these goals. Almost 40% of IT leaders said that increasing business IT benefits was more important than simplifying operations, optimizing employee productivity, or minimizing security events.

Knowledge is the key to modernization

IT leaders and strategists are not concerned about the lack of skills. They expressed confidence in their teams' ability to address future network challenges. A third of IT executives believe that their teams are well prepared to meet all the needs of advanced networks and another 40% believe that they are well prepared and only 7% think they are not at all prepared. However, skills shortages remain a barrier to more than a quarter of IT teams. 27% of IT leaders have identified the lack of skills as a major barrier to moving to advanced networks. That is why complementing or upgrading employees is a top priority for 22% of IT leaders.
